Dutch Pete , a perfect quiet retreat with majestic views. Dutch Pete is located three miles west of the Inn. It is an eco conscious off the grid house with approximately 1200 square feet. It has a one bedroom suite with a king and full beds and a historic outbuilding, (tiny house), with a queen bed. The outbuilding has no utilities and the house can only sleep four.
The main entry level living room has two supple couches and a half bathroom adjacent to an expansive dining and kitchen area. Internet is available by satellite link, but cell phones will not ring. Light and heat are provided by solar supplemented by propane.
Basic amenities include: silent clean hydronic heating, a computer with wireless internet access, gas range, washer, dryer, trash compactor, espresso machine, outdoor gas BBQ, microwave, TV, and satellite radio. The counter tops are granite and floors are tiger wood.
The buildings are on the site where Owens Valley stagecoaches and travellers stopped in mid 1880's, a place drivers and guests came to rest and buy food for horses and passengers from Dutch Pete. The night sky is perfect for serious astronomy with an observing platform . The desert climate promote clear skies and there are no obstructions or city lights. It is the ultimate in dark skies. This house is perfect for a peaceful retreat with incredible views of the White Mountains through the Benton Notch. It is remote.
The rate is $250.00 a night for 1-4 people which includes taxes. This unit does not have a hot tub or use at Benton Hot Springs. However, if available a hot tub site can be reserved separately at the hot springs. If the outbuilding is used for two additional people the rate is $300.00 a night. There is a two night minimum. Well behaved pets may be allowed with approval. Smoking is allowed outside the unit only.
